Public Safety Comission

There are two types of public safety commissions in the punjab province: Provincial Public Safety Commission and District Public Safety Commissions. The mandate of the Provincial Public Safety Commission is contained in Article 80 of the Police Order 2002. It’s composition is as follows:
 
  1. Half of the members of the Provincial Public Safety Commission shall be nominated by the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly from amongst its members, four from the Treasury and two from the Opposition in consultation with the Leader of the House & the Leader of the Opposition provided that at least two members shall be women. 
  2. Half of the members shall be appointed by the Governor from a list of names recommended by the Provincial Selection Panel provided that at least two members shall be women.
 The District Public Safety Commission approves an annual district policing plan, looks into the complaints against police, monitors and evaluates the delivery of performance targets as contained in the local policing plan. The details of the mandate District Public Safety Commission is contained in Article 44 of Police Order 2002.
