Crime Control and Reporting Centre
Establishment of a Crime Control and Reporting Centre, CCRC, is a community based project of the district police. This project aims at using electronic surveillance devices for crime mapping, detection and control in the selected business districts of Faisalabad City. The local community has undertaken to share one third of the total cost of the project. In this respect, this is a pioneer project in the Punjab Police.
The project is based on cameras clusters which will be installed in the selected areas of the city. These clusters will be hooked up to a central control room, the CCRC, through wire and wireless bridges. Images generated by clusters will be monitored on round the clock basis at the CCRC. Important information will be rallied from the control centre to the local police for action.
Besides helping in prevention of criminal activities, the information recorded at the CCRC will also be used for forensic purposes and improving police response in various situations. Active involvement of community in implementation of the project is also likely to enhance public confidence in police working, an important consideration for the district police.
